LOL! Paul and Barnabus disagreed- it's just a fact that where there are two humans there will be disagreement no matter how united they are in their beliefs.
Christians shouldn't bother with "doctrines" in the first place. Doctrines are made by men, and as such will be fallible. I prefer to follow Truth.
I completely disagree that the person is disagreeing with me when I say that we should disagree and they say that we shouldn't. Why, it's unheard of to think that Christians should disagree about disagreeing! The nerve of some people! I find it, well... disagreeable!
Job 11:4 For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.
Proverbs 4:2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
Isaiah 28:9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
Isaiah 29:24 They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.
Still feel that way? There are tons more. I would kindly suggest a read through Isaiah, and Psalms 1:1-3. Doctrine is not made by man. Some people seem to think so, but nothing could be farther from the Truth. In fact, how could we know what is or is not Truth without doctrinal explanations of it? His Word is Truth, and His word is our guide. Doctrine - "a body or system of teachings relating to a particular subject:" The entire Bible is doctrine.
@James3_1 - LOL@ Doug ...and Amen to your second reply brother !..Doctrine is not a dirty word.
@James3_1 - Funny thing is, I don't see many Christians - certainly not yourself - following the DOCTRINE of the Old Testament, from which you have quoted. And that certainly isn't the "doctrines" preached by churches that men disagree upon.
@PerilousTimes - No one said it's a dirty word. But there is a huge difference between man-made doctrines of churches, and the Truth of God.
@radicalramblings - Certainly not myself? That's an amazing observation, considering you know nothing of me, have never met me, and haven't a clue what I "follow" or don't follow.
But... answer the question. You've seen scripture that shows that doctrine is God's, not man's. Do you still feel that doctrine is irrelevant?
@radicalramblings - who decides whether something is a doctrine of a church or a doctrine of God? Ultimately there must be someone. So who is it? Were you at the council of Trent when these things were suffered over for months, in fear and trembling? Is the doctrine of my Bible different for me than it is for you? Who says so?
How do you know what is a man made doctrine and what is a God ordained Doctrine? Just wondering.
Rom 16:17Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.
2Ti 3:16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
Maybe I am wrong here but it appears that you are confusing doctrine with traditon ???

Dale, I loved the ad hom attack there by the way, how about you?
As though whether someone follows the doctrine or not has any bearing on whether or not it's God's doctrine, or man's. Hello, the message of the gospel is the fallibility of man, so to attack the man for being fallible is unnecessary and ultimately redundant. But that's just me - you know- the one who certainly doesn't follow the doctrines... sigh*
Matthew 7:28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his

Good one!
I remember an old saying that where there are two Jews, there are at least three opinions. Seems to me that it probably applies to Christians as well. Disagreement is pretty much inevitable.

@radicalramblings - I AGREE wholeheartedly!
